The US army confirmed on Saturday that the UK-owned vessel Rubymar had sunk after being struck by an anti-ship ballistic missile fired by Yemeni Houthi militants on Feb 18.
“Yemen will proceed to sink extra British ships, and any repercussions or different damages might be added to Britain’s invoice,” Hussein al-Ezzi, deputy international minister within the Houthi-led authorities, mentioned in a submit on X.
“It’s a rogue state that assaults Yemen and companions with America in sponsoring ongoing crimes in opposition to civilians in Gaza.”
Houthi militants have repeatedly launched drones and missiles in opposition to worldwide business delivery since mid-November, saying they’re appearing in solidarity with Palestinians in opposition to Israel’s army actions in Gaza.
Their Pink Sea assaults have disrupted world delivery, forcing companies to re-route to longer and more expensive journeys round southern Africa, and stoked fears that the Israel-Hamas conflict may unfold to destabilise the broader Center East.
The US and Britain started striking Houthi targets in Yemen in January in retaliation for the assaults on Pink Sea delivery.
