The power stated it obtained a report of a canine assault at an handle in Maple Terrace in Shiney Row, Sunderland, at 6.55pm on Tuesday.
A person in his 50s was taken to hospital with severe accidents.
The power stated a 44-year-old man was arrested in reference to the incident and stays in custody, whereas the canine was “destroyed on the scene to make sure the protection of the general public”. The breed of canine has not been revealed.
