The accusations linking the Indian government to the killing of a Sikh separatist leader on Canadian soil have raised questions on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration, stated observers.
“What it means extra broadly although, if there’s credibility in (the allegations) – and there seems to be credibility on this – this does add one other ingredient of doubt on the character of the Modi authorities,” stated Affiliate Professor of legislation John Packer of the College of Ottawa, including that Mr Modi’s Hindu nationalist agenda and the preparedness to take excessive measures has already courted rising controversy.
“To start with, we’ve got to underline that that is in the intervening time an allegation, and it’s actively denied on the a part of India. And so they have taken umbrage, in fact, on the sort of precipitous character of the allegation and the accusation,” Prof Packer instructed CNA’s Asia First on Monday (Sep 25).
“Nevertheless, there seems to be fairly sturdy, excessive confidence when it comes to the intelligence providers.”
